This image, originally made in stereoscope, was captured in the Hopi pueblo at Shonghopavi, on the Second Mesa in northeastern Arizona. This rare image shows the "Dance to the Rain Gods" in progress. Our research strongly suggests it dates between 1900 and 1910.
Please see our Hopi Pueblo images of Walpi (First Mesa) and Oraibi (Third Mesa). Also see our "Three Hopi Pueblos" print - all three reproduced in an 8" x 8" size and as a single print.
