Here’s a charming piece of the past. Venerable “Country Gentleman” Magazine was published continuously from 1830-1955 and provided American agriculturists with fiction, philosophy and political perspective as well as news of the latest farm techniques, science and implements.

Response to our “Game Load Game” art print suggested wildlife artist Lynn Bogue Hunt had strong appeal for our customers, so we’ve added two “Country Gentleman” covers Hunt contributed.

Both illustrations show the artist’s highly-developed skills and his well-studied knowledge of his subjects. No wildlife illustrator has ever captured dynamic motion and tension or demonstrated a grasp of detail, like this artist. These crows are none too pleased at having their neighborhood intruded upon by this Horned Owl…but this striking illustration reveals the full range of the artist’s particular genius.

We’ve left only a subtle brown toning – the effect of age – around the edges and a few, small imperfections, but it appears mostly just as it did when it arrived in one of its 2 ½ million subscribers’ mailbox right at 90 years ago. We make it available in both the 11” x 14” size, slightly larger than the original, and in the larger 16” x 20” format.

Like all our custom prints, it is produced using the highest standards of reproduction technology and fine archival paper. We ship it to you carefully rolled in a protective poly sleeve and heavy-duty mailing tube.
