The father of our National Park System (among a few other accomplishments) the president was in an even more enthusiastic spirit than usual when he disembarked a train to take his first tour of Yellowstone in 1903. Reporters were on hand, of course (one stands just to the left as you view the photo) and fortunately so was the photographer who captured this ripping-good shot of T.R. and his military escort.
